Our reproduction is based on an original flute by Godfridus Adrianus Rottenburgh (Brussels, 1709–1790), formerly owned by the Belgian flutist Barthold Kuijken. It is generally accepted that this instrument was made around 1760. Kuijken performed late Baroque, Rococo (galant), and early Classical repertoire, with a particular focus on mid-18th-century music by Bach, Telemann, Quantz, and C. P. E. Bach.

With its A=430 hz corps de rechange, it covers early Classical repertoire of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, including works by Mozart, Haydn, and early Beethoven.

The original was made of boxwood, stained and finished with varnish, but our reproduction is crafted in olive wood.
