This 7-key F (Fa) clarinet draws inspiration from the craftsmanship of J.H. Ebble White, a London-based maker. It is well suited as a substitute for basset horn repertoire where the extended range down to written C is not required. It is especially relevant to Classical-era basset horn writing, including works by Mozart such as Requiem and Die Zauberflöte, and later works for basset horn and related clarinet family by Weber, where the instrument’s warm alto-register character is essential.
