Pito Castellano is a traditional Spanish instrument that is widely associated with the regions of Castilla y León, especially Valladolid, Ávila, and Segovia.
This instrument is traditionally known as a Pito Castellano in C (Do) because its natural fingering is based on the C scale. The additional keys extend the playing range down to low A at pitch A=440 Hz.
This professional model is handcrafted and made from carefully selected hardwood and is fitted with eight keys for a fully chromatic scale.
Unlike the traditional Castilian dulzaina, the Pito Castellano uses a fipple mouthpiece similar to a recorder. This makes it much easier to play while preserving the traditional fingering system used for Castilian folk music.
This instrument is suitable for professional performers, advanced students, traditional folk musicians, music schools, and collectors of historical and traditional woodwind instruments.
